Carey H. Johnson is a 1964 graduate of the University of San Francisco where he obtained his B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. He then attended Law School at the University of San Francisco where he was awarded his LLB in 1967. He has attended Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, and the Prosecutors' Program at Northwestern University School of Law.

Mr. Johnson prosecuted and defended approximately 80 court martials while serving as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps including one year in Vietnam. Since joining Stammer, McKnight, Barnum & Bailey in 1971 he has tried 38 civil cases to jury verdict, including cases involving such serious personal injuries as paraplegia, persistent vegetative states and "bad baby" injuries, and has litigated agricultural crop damage. He has also represented the Medical Staff in staff privilege hearings. Mr. Johnson has served as settlement judge pro tem for the Fresno County Courts and has been an independent arbitrator for Kaiser. He is the firm's senior partner and is the author of "Can a Physician be Liable When an MCO Denies Treatment?" published in The Insurance Journal in April, 1997. Mr. Johnson's practice is primarily in the fields of medical malpractice, health law, and tort litigation, although he also handles agricultural cases.

Mr. Johnson is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the California Medical Legal Committee, and the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California where he served as a member of the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the State Bar of California and of the Fresno County Bar Association.
